Monica Goldberg is an Australian poet, prose writer and photographer who has recently experimented with video art. Her short fiction, poetry and nonfiction has been published in more than forty literary journals and anthologies both in Australia and overseas. Her flash story ‘A Leap of Faith’ was commended in the ‘Joanne Burns Awards’ and her prose story ‘Rare Expectations’ was long listed in the 2015 Fish flash fiction awards and was published in the anthology Poems for Pacuare. Two of her stories were shortlisted in the 2016 Fish Flash Fiction awards and her poem ‘Wild Larynx’ was recently published by Minor Literature[s]. In May this year her story ‘A Leap of Faith’ was performed by Little Fictions at the 2016 Sydney Writers Festival. Her video poetry was recently shown at the 5th International Video Poetry Festival in Athens.
During my time in Andalusia it was music that came to symbolize the rich beauty and depth that is to be found in the blending of cultures. I didn't expect to start exploring a new genre of music—it simply happened.
