Definition: A pilgrimage which has a very formative influence on the mental landscape of the subject, usually of a child.

Example: Joshua was seven when he first travelled to Moscow, where he was exposed to the work of  Boris Pasternak, at a roadside book-vendor’s. Back in Dublin, he went on to consider that experience his definitive pupilgrimage into the world of modern Russian Literature.
