It takes only a minimum of 47 seconds to complete the world’s shortest flight, between Westray and Papa Westray, the two Orknay islands situated in northern Scotland. The two islands are separated only by 1.7 miles (approx. 2.7 kilometres). Although, the official flight duration, along with the time taken for taxiing, is a little over 2 minutes, with suitable wind conditions the journey can be covered in 47 seconds. Papa Westray has only about 80 inhabitants and 60 archaeological sites.

The flight is run by Loganair, since 1960s. Today, a ticket costs about  $30. There is of course no in-flight service.
